Step 2: Cutting Your Pieces Out
Take your plate (or whatever you can find that's about 10-12 inches in diameter) and place it on the fabric. Trace around it and take the plate off. Place another little dish over the side of the circle, about three inches from the edge. Trace around it, this is your brim.
Step 3: Cut Out the Hole
Take one of the big circles you cut out and center a five inch circle on it. Trace around it and cut it out. This is the hole where you will put your head, don't worry! It will stretch.
Step 4: Sewing Pieces Together
Sew around the edges of the two big circles, all the way around. Turn right side out.
Next, sew around the outside edge of the brim.

Step 5: Attaching the Brim
Pin the brim to the inner circle of the big piece, you might want to use a pin every inch or so, just so it's not moving all over the place.
Sew on the brim, back-stitching on the edges to keep it from coming undone.

Step 6: Making the "M" Logo
Cut out an "M" out of red fleece or felt about 2 inches tall.
Cut a white circle of fleece or felt about 2½ inches tall, before you cut it out you can place the red "M" on it to make sure it's the right size.
Sew the red "M" to the white circle. It is best to do this slowly, as the "M" is rather thin and is easily moved around.

Step 7: Attaching the "M" to the Hat.
Center the "M" circle in the middle of the front of the hat. Pin it in place.
Sew all the way around the circle. Be careful not to sew through the other layers.

Step 8: Try It On!
Now try on your hat! You may need to cut the hole in the bottom a little bigger. You'll have to do this at the back, as of course the brim is in the front.
Now you can look really awesome with a Mario hat! Wear this to game parties, as a Halloween costume finisher, or just for fun!
