Recently I have been designed to create a mask for one of my classes, and I create this mask project by testing different methods but come to the conclusion these steps below are the most affordable, fun, and aesthetically pleasing. In addition to fulfilling my class assignment it serves as a fun diy project to do when bored, and can be decorated to your liking. My teacher who assigned this project was planning to do a masquerade party for the class, and I believe this project below can help you if you wish to maybe do the same.

Supplies

Supplies include:

Piece of cardboard
Old dictionary
Glue
Scissors
Wood skewer stick
Tape or hot glue

Step 1: Bases of the Mask

At this step you will need to have a large sized cardboard piece to cut out the rectangle shaped cardboard piece of the mask, and you might wish to measure your portions of your face to make sure your mask is not too big or small. But I didn't measure my portions but rather went with a rough estimation, but once measured I would recommend to use a ruler to sketch out where you will be cutting the mask.

Step 2: Cutting

At this point you should have sketched out where you will be cutting, and should have begun with cutting a rectangle shape for the mask. But cutting out the eyes is the most difficult part of cutting, for cutting out the eyes I would recommend to use a exacto knife. But I didn't have one, so what I did was to stab where you wish eyes to be with one of the sides of the scissors and continue to cut out a circle. This process with the scissors will make the mask a bit messy now, but it does not matter due to how the mask will be covered with paper.

Step 3: Gluing

Once done with the cutting of the cardboard is when the fun part of making the mask begins, and begins with tearing out pages from a book. It doesn't matter if the book is a dictionary I just used a dictionary because I didn't want to rip any of my books I was planning on reading, but anyways at this point you're trying to be messy with the ripping of the pages. In addition you can or cannot do the same to both sides, so in order to increase the out ward shape of the mask. Once done with deciding how you wish to have the paper arranged you can start glue them to the cardboard, and I would recommend to wait for the glue to dry before moving on to the next step.

Step 4: Mask's Handle

At this point you should have waited for the glue to dry, for that reason we can move onto adding the handle to the mask. The mask requires a handle in order to be worn, and to add the handle I would recommend to use either a hot glue gun or a lot of tape. But it doesn't matter which you just have the handle connected to the mask strong enough to be held. In addition at this point you will decide whether your handle will be on the left or right of your mask, and I would suggest deciding which hand is most dominant. The most dominant hand being where you will hold the mask, and once done can now move onto the decoration of the mask.

Step 5: Completion of the Mask

The mask itself is complete at this point, but you can decide for yourself whether you wish to decorate the mask more by drawing on it. For example you can use a pen and color pens to create cartoonish illustrations to go along with the mask, or you could just leave the mask as it is to wear. But either or are both amazing fun to make.
