Introduction: Masquerade Mask Greeting Card

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

This unique greeting card is like a Mardi Gras party in an envelope! This project was originally created by Mark Montano and it was featured in The Big Ass Book of Crafts 2 from the chapter "Letter Perfect"!

Step 1: Grab Your Materials

To make this unique greeting card, what you need are:

  • scrapbook paper / cardstock
  • clear tape
  • ribbons
  • hole punch
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • X-acto knife
  • template of the Masquerade Mask Greeting Cards (you can find this in The Big Ass Book of Crafts 2on page 376)

Step 2: Prep Images

First, if you have a copy of The Big Ass Book of Crafts 2, go to page 376 and make a copy of the mask and envelope templates. Then, print everything out.

Step 3: Trace and Cut

Once you've printed the templates out, trace each image on a piece of scrapbook paper or cardstock. Make sure to carefully cut and score each shape, so that it doesn't cut all the way across or through the fold lines where indicated on the original templates.

Step 4: Tape Mask to Envelope

Fold the mask over, then unfold it, and use a piece of clear tape to tape one end of the mask to the bottom of the envelope.

Step 5: Final Touches

For the final touches, punch a hole on both top corners of the mask, and thread two pieces of ribbon through each one.

Step 6: Done!

Once it's complete, just write a message in the envelope, fold over the masks, seal in place, and it's ready to send!
