Introduction: Master Sword Boffer

About: I basically make a ton of boffers. quite a few of them are based on their counterparts in video games. my page will be dedicated to boffers For those uneducated in boffering, basically you beat the stuffing ou…
The Master Sword. It's one of the best swords in the universe (of zelda at least). So i made a boffer version of it. Yes, I'm a huge nerd. This was relatively cheap, running at about $5. I apologize in advance for the photo quality. I had to use my phone, and it flipped some of them. So sorry. Also, this 'ible uses sharp objects. Don't cut yourself. So without further ado, let's begin.

Update: This has been entered into the toy challenge 2 contest (I Think it's called that) so any votes would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Step 1: Materials

You will need

-About 3 feet of 1/2" PVC pipe.
-A hacksaw (to cut the pipe)
-A tape measure (to measure said pipe)
-Gray, red, blue, black, and gold duct tape.
-52" of 1/2" pipe insulation (pre-slit preferred)
-about 1 square foot of EVA foam padding.

Step 2: The Pipe

Measure out the length you want on the pipe, and just cut it. A PVC cutter works best, but i lost mine, so i used a hacksaw. It's that simple.

Step 3: The Base Blade.

First, cut your insulation in half. put away one half, as you'll need it later. Simply slide the rest onto the blade, and tape it down. Make sure you have about an inch or two extra at the end. Then, cut the end so it makes a point, like in the picture.

Step 4: Hilt

Cut out a shape like the hilt on the master sword. If it fits, cut out two. then sandwich the handle with them, just below the blade. Tape them up with blue, lengthwise to the handle, to hold it in place, and then tape it to the blade. Next cover the whole handle and hilt with blue.

Step 5: The Pommel.

This is easy. Make the pieces that i have, and tape them at the back end as you see, with the sloped dome thing.

Step 6: The Blade Pt II

Remember that extra foam? You need to julian slice it. If you got pre-slit foam, this will be easier. simply lay it on either side of the blade, one on each side, and tape it in place lengthwise. That is important, as it keeps from compressing the foam. Make sure that you have extra, so you can wrap it around the tip to make a stabbing tip. You can sorta see what I mean by the pictures. Then cover the whole blade in gray, with lengthwise strips.

Step 7: Basics. Completed.

Okay. You have the basic sword. If all you wanted was a sword for general use, and don't care about the details, You're done. But I'll be aesthetically making it nicer.

Step 8: Details.

Let it go on record that I hate using long scissors to cut out shapes. for the hilt, use strips of black (duh) and a long trapezoid of gold, for the triforce use more strips and triangles of gold, and more strips for the handle. Triangles (and trapezoids) are tricky to cut out. Wrap it around evenly twice in opposite directions. Also, you could use silver chrome duct tape, it would really look good then, but i don't have the money for it.

Step 9: That's All Folks!

This marks the end. I hope you enjoyed it. Now uses of this sword include ,but are not limited to, Stabbing friends (non-fatally), dominating at boffers, or summoning a spirit that will start your quest to save the world and vanquish ganondorf (or not). I would like to note that i am not responsible for any injuries caused by this thing. Don't stab your (or your friends) eyes out. If you can figure out how to summon Fi with this thing, I'd love to hear it.

Live long and prosper.
