Introduction: Matcha Chip Waffles

Learn how to make a delicious, fluffy waffle! If you love matcha these waffles are for you! This recipe makes 8 full sized waffles. Also learn how to make a matcha latte!

Supplies

You will need:

- Large Bowl

- Measuring Cups and Spoons

- Medium Bowl

- Small Bowl

- Whisk

- Spatula

- Waffle Iron

- Sifter

- Flour

- Sugar

- Salt

- Baking Soda and Powder

- Matcha Powder

- Buttermilk

- Butter

- Eggs

- Chocolate Chips

- Cooking Spray

Step 1: Flour

Put 2 1/2 cups of sifted flour into a large bowl.

Step 2: Sugar & Salt

Pour 3 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of salt in the same large bowl.

Step 3: Baking Soda & Powder

Add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the same bowl.

Step 4: Matcha Powder

Sift 2 tablespoons of matcha in with the dry ingredients, then whisk carefully until combined.

Step 5: Milk

In a separate medium bowl add 2 1/2 cups of buttermilk, coconut milk, or regular milk.

Step 6: Butter

In the same bowl as the milk add in 1 stick of unsalted, melted butter.

Step 7: Eggs

In with the wet ingredients add 2 egg yolks and save the whites. Stir your wet ingredients until smooth, then beat your egg whites until they become fluffy.

Step 8: Mixing

Pour your wet ingredients into the dry, then fold together with a spatula. Next, fold in your fluffy, beaten egg whites.

Step 9: Chocolate Chips

Lastly fold 1/2 cup of any type of chocolate chips you like into your batter.

Step 10: Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron and lightly spray it with cooking oil or a little bit of butter.

Step 11: Cooking Waffles

Pour 1/3 cup of batter in the waffle iron and cook each waffle for about 2 minutes or until they are golden on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.

Step 12: Finishing

Stack up your waffles, then top them with fresh fruit, more chocolate chips, sifted matcha, or powdered sugar.

Step 13: Bonus Matcha Latte

In a small cup add 3 teaspoons of matcha powder and 1 teaspoon sweetener (syrup, coconut sugar, coconut cream, regular sugar). Pour in 2 tablespoons of very hot water and blend with a frother or whisk until foamy. Add ice to a large cup and pour in 2 cups of your choice milk. Top with your matcha blend and you're done!
