Introduction: Math Club Buzzer - Scratch

This project was developed because we needed to find a cost effective way to run our math club competitions.

Our math team is virtual right now, but when we return we wanted a way to know which team buzzed in to answer first. To save money by not having to buy a buzz system, I adapted the Makey Makey board and coded a program in scratch to make a team mascot sound and display their team mascot picture so it would be clear which team buzzed in first.

I’m not very scratch savvy, so I didn’t know how to write the program to keep track of which team buzzed in first or last so we would know which were our very comfortable students and which ones needed some reteaching. I will have to watch the screen and hand record the order they buzz in.

The flipgrid video shows the project in action.
