Introduction: Metal Slingshot

Let us make a slingshot from spare parts and items you have around the house.

Supplies

  • Coat hanger
  • Pen
  • Rubber band
  • Tape
  • Combination Plier
  • Blade

Step 1: Main Structure

  • Remove the hook
  • Clip the arms

Step 2: Shape

  • Bend the arms (rectangular U shape)
  • Twist the hand grip edges (safety)
  • Trim the plastic cover (just the tip)

Step 3: Other Elements

  • Disassemble the pen
  • Split the rubber band
  • Cut the pen’s ink chamber (2 small bits)

Step 4: Tricky Part

Assemble the hanger, the ink chamber and the rubber band together

NOTE: it should be really tight!

Step 5: Finish

  • Repeat previous step for both arms
  • Wrap the handle with tape (just to look cool)

Step 6: Ammunition

Use the spare part of the hanger to create the ammo clip:

  • Grab
  • Fold
  • Cut
  • Repeat

Step 7: Fire It

  • Insert the clip on the rubber
  • Pull and release!

Step 8: Have Fun

  • Practice
  • Safety warning: clips can sink deeply

Step 9: Alternatives


  • If you think metal clips are too hardcore, just use folded paper
  • My older brother made me a few slingshots like this when we were kids - I loved it! Instead of an hanger he used electric wire - give it a try too
