Introduction: Mi Band Emergency Strap
Your Mi band strap broke today and you don't have a replacement, even though you were sure to add 3 of them to your cart months ago to avoid this exact predicament. Trust me I know the feeling. Either you want to create a temporary or even permanent replacement to your beloved fitness device. You've come to the right place. Let's go over the simple tools you'd need for this quick fix:
- string (yarn, nylon cord, etc.)
- yarn needle
- broken band
If you still have some of the original strap intact, keep it that way. Trim both ends to make it aesthetically pleasing. Reserving about 1 to ½ in free. Take the device out of the strap, if you haven't done so already. Use the nail to punch a hole at the top and bottom of the trimmed ends.
When cutting the string, make sure to measure the length so you can easily bring the device up to your face to read when wearing as a necklace.
Thread the yarn into the needle. A metal needle will be the best option here as there will be a lot of force applied. Make sure the needle has a blunt edge. Safety people!
There's two ways to thread the string. The first; the necklace method consists of threading both end of the strings and pulling both through the punched holes. A loop will be created and the Mi Band will hang vertically.
The second; a bit more straightforward, consists of threading only one end of the string through both punched holes. This will result in a horizontal display, similar to a wristwatch.
TIP: If you can get your hands on a 12 to 18mm (width) strap, simply elongate the punched hole (stab the nail repeatedly along a path to create a slit. Or simply use an X-ACTO knife to carefully carve a slit). Wear it on your wrist like before.
Tie off the ends and wear to your heart's content 😜☺️
