Why do villagers love emeralds so much? I have absolutely no idea, but I do know that they make really tasty treats! In this recipe you'll see how to make these rare blocks into fudge! You will need:

250ml of condensed milk
100ml of milk 
450g of brown sugar
115g of butter (plus extra for buttering the tray) 
Green or Blue food colouring

You will also need:

A wooden spoon
A large saucepan 
A medium sized baking tray (about 30cm by 20cm)
A measuring jug
weighing scales

Step 1: Mix All the Ingredients

First, butter the baking tray so that the bottom and the sides are covered in a thin layer of butter. The top picture above shows this. Then put the milk, sugar, condensed milk and butter in the pan and set it on a low heat. Stir the mixture for about 5 minutes until the sugar melts.

Step 2: Bring the Mixture to a Boil

When all the sugar has dissolved turn up the heat and bring it to a boil. Continuously stir and remember to scrape the bottom of the pan otherwise you might be spending a lot of time washing up!

Step 3: Make It Emeraldy

At this point add the food colouring. I actually added blue food colouring rather than green and because the mixture was already brown it turned out an emerald colour, though I'm sure green would work fine. You can add as much food colouring as you want, depending on how dark you want your fudge. You could even make a light green fudge to look like a slime block! To test if the fudge is on the right tracks, put a blob of it in an ice cold cup of water. If the fudge forms a semi-solid ball it is ready for the next step. If not, keep stirring.

Step 4: Beat the Fudge

After stirring for about 15 minutes turn off the heat completely or move the pan to a heat proof surface. beat it with a wooden spoon until the mixture becomes stiff and starts to solidify. This will take about 10-15 minutes.

Step 5: Leave the Fudge to Set

Scrape the fudge into the buttered tray and smooth it with a spoon if necessary. Leave it to cool and set in the fridge for 1-2 hours until it is mostly solid. cut it into squares and leave it to solidify for another 10-30 minutes.
