Introduction: Minecraft - No Glue Cubes
Here's a nifty way to fold cubes without the need for tape, glue, or large flaps.
I can get four 1-1/4" cubes out of a single sheet of paper with minimal waste.
I created a few (ok, quite a few) templates to make it easier to print, cut, and fold.
Step 1: Cut It Out
Cut out the block template – Cut along red line in this diagram.
You should end up with a square with 8 (near) half-circles [2 on each side] and 4 arcs [1 near each corners].
Step 2: Fold It
Fold along lines 1, 2, 3 & 4.
Step 3: Keep Folding
Then fold along lines 5, 6, 7 & 8.
This step is the same as when you were folding 1, 2, 3 & 4, just turned 90 degrees.
Step 4: Don't Fold
Don’t fold across the center of the square.
(I did this the first time I made one of these cubes and learned from that mistake - it will just put needless fold lines across the top of your cube)
Step 5: Fold the Corners
Fold inward along the dashed lines.
(This can be a little tricky, but with a little practice this'll be easy)
Repeat this process for the other three corners.
Step 6: Hook It All Together
Hook two opposing corners together using the tabs created from the arcs.
(Make sure to be careful with the tabs - don't force them or you'll likely tear them off)
Step 7: Hook the Last Part Together
Hook the other two corners.
(You may need to adjust the shape of the cube slightly to hook the last corners together)
Step 8: Finished!
Now you should have a finished cube!
Put the side you hooked together face down.
Here are a few templates - the pdf file has 68 block templates.
Step 9:
Have fun and enjoy!
