Introduction: Minecraft Transforming Sword / Pickaxe From Cardboard DIY
I made this cool toy from cardboard , Minecraft transforming sword / pickaxe , and it actually works just like real toy!
Here is a quick video of how i made it: https://youtu.be/77eaMTp4xYY
It was some what difficult and intricate project so it's a little hard for me to explain every little detail , but you can ask me questions in comments.
As far as my research goes this is one and only working cardboard transforming sword / pickaxe, i could be wrong though. Let me know your thoughts in comments!
Supplies
Cardboard sheets 11 'x 17" 4 pcs. and 2-3 more sheets at least 11" x 11"
Popsickle stick and 1/4 dowel.
Superglue ( thin ), some paint.
Hot glue gun.
Step 1:
Take 4 sheets of 11" x 17" cardboard and trace the sword, (each square is 1"). Cut them out.
In 2 pieces cut out 1/4 " wide by 7 1/5" long line right in the center towards the bottom, and cut out 4 lines 1/4 x 1 1/2 on the blade ( see pic. and vid.)
Glue 2 and 2 cut out pieces together with hot glue, then insert 1 1/2" x 1/4" cut popsicle stick pieces and glue them with super glue.
Now make more cardboard cutouts, handle ( 2 pieces), end of the handle (4 pieces), and blade extensions (2 pieces), between handle filler piece ( 1 pc.)
Step 2:
Now take 2 handle pieces and make a 2 cutouts along the outside about 1/8" ( see pic)
Insert 2 1/8 dowels in blade extensions .
Glue handle filler piece, and try fitting everything together to make sure it works.
No make the mechanism using popsicle sticks and 3 small 1/4" dowel pieces. It was a little complicated and I just notched and cut out cardboard little by little until everything fit right, ( see pics and video)
Now cutout pickaxe extensions, insert wood dowel on one side and glue 1/4 wide popsicle stick on opposite side.
Paint blade and axe extensions!
Step 3:
Now put all the parts and pieces together to test it to make sure it works right.
Glue end pieces on the handle and glue everything together with hot glue.
Paint everything and enjoy the toy>
I'm sure I skipped some of the steps, it was pretty difficult and intricate project, If you have question please comment.
Thank you!
