Mini Copper Tabletop Tiki Torch

Do you ever eat on your porch or deck? Well here is a great way to keep the bugs away with some mini Table Tiki Torches.

These simple and great looking torches provide some useful decor to any table setting. They are also very easy to make.

I went to the local home improvement store and purchased a 1/2-inch by 8-inch copper tube that is sealed on one end, and a 1/2-inch by 1/4-inch reducer. I also needed a small pipe that would fit inside of the reducer. The smaller pipe needed to be cut down, so I measured the depth of the reducer and cut it with a piper cutter.

The wick is a smaller version and fits snug inside of the small pipe which I slid over it. I then inserted the wick into the smaller end of the reducer. The smaller pipe rested inside.

Everything fit great, so I disassembled it and polished the copper with some steel wool.

I then decided to use some glass spaghetti sauce jars for the holders. Using some sand, I secured the tube inside of the jar. This will help prevent the torch from being knocked over.

I then added some citronella oil using a funnel. The tubes only need to be half full or the oil can spill out.

Now the assembled top and wick can be lowered into place. I gave the wick a couple of minutes to absorb the oil and lit it with a lighter.

I also purchased a 1/2-inch cap that works great at extinguishing the flame and protects the tube from collecting rain water.

These torches would make a great addition to any porch or deck party.
