One advantage a miter box has over a power miter saw is in cutting molding. Set up is faster and tear out doesn't need to be mitigated. Also, I'll be recruiting my wife to work on the molding. She would never use a saw that was plugged in but a handheld saw she'll weild.

May i ask why do you need a Miter-Box if you have a Miter-Saw? (Other than the fact that someone that doesn't have one, could make this at a workshop...)

You might want to saw a small kerf line into something like an instrument neck to add frets or you might have very small and delicate pieces that would be dangerous and cumbersome to cut with a large power miter saw.
