Introduction: Mio Drink Refill Hack

I love the Mio drink, for their taste and portability! Being a diabetic, I like to keep my water handy, and keep hydrated, but I do get bored with water and on occasion I like to spruce it up a bit.. I also like to keep some flavor with me on the go. So I started drinking Mio. They have a spill resistant top, and are small enough to put into my purse, but I hate that they are so expensive, and so I figured a way to refill them! I usually only refill a few times, because I don't think they will hold up to repeated abuse...
For this insrtuctable I am using Crystal Light, but you can use any of the concentrated drink mixes.

What you need:
A Pyrex measuring cup,
An oral syringe:Anyone with kids will have one of these, if not, you can request one from your local pharmacy.
Powdered drink mix 1-2 packets. depending on how much concentrate you want.
An empty Mil container.

Step 1
Clean out the Mio container:
Fill your Pyrex cup with hot water, either from the microwave or tea kettle.
Fill the oral syringe with hot water and insert tip through the flexible top on Mio top.
Warning!!!!!!! make sure that you tip the top of the Mio container AWAY from you when you withdraw the oral Syringe!!!!!
It can burn you and stain anything you are wearing... I usually like to do this over the sink...
When you are filling the Mio bottle, you are filling a container that has a rubber bladder type seal, so the air doesn't have anywhere to go... sometimes you can hold the tip of the oral syringe against the opening and this will release the air, but please do be careful!

Squeeze out any water and repeat or just leave the bottle with the leftover drink in it if it's not been open too long... I just like to keep things clean.

Step 2:
Mix drink mix...
I mix my drink mix in just under 1/4 of a cup... The Mio container is just under 2 ounces, so that is what I use... I heat the water in the kettle or the microwave depending on the weather... do not add the drink mix to hot water... it changes the chemical make up of the artificial sweetener, and is not good for you.. so please have patience and let the water become warm, or just get warm water out of the tap... pour drink mix in... stir until it is completely dissolved... then you can star filling your container...

Step #:
Filling the container is easy, just fill the oral syringe with your dink mix, plunge the syringe into the top of the Mio container, push the plunger down on the oral syringe and make sure that you face the container away from you as you release the tip of the oral syringe.

Then you are done... I usually like to label my container, so I remember what I've put in it... I usually have one with a berry and one with a flavored tea, but5 I also keep one with flavored syrup for my coffee... i like the sugar free Cinnamon Dulce from Starbucks...
I hope this help others out there... I love my Mio, but I can't always afford it... so lets keep hydrated, keep your sugars down, and do good work!
