Introduction: Mix and Match Magnetic Animal Toys

RHINOCAMEL!! I choose YOU!!
Kids will love mixing animal parts and coming up with new species, naming them and giving them supernatural abilities.. And if they are too young, they'll learn how to match related objects and they'll be amazed how the magnets act.. plus if these toys aren't fun anymore you don't have to throw them away because you can still use them to decorate you fridge..

Step 1: What You Need

For this project you'll need:
- Animal toys
- Magnets ( I used whiteboard magnets )
- Hot glue gun
- Knife
- Sanding paper ( optional )
- A smooth heat resistant surface ( I used Pyrex )

Step 2: Cut the Toys in Half

Place the toys on a towel and carefully cut them with a kitchen knife.
You might want to smooth the cut edges with sanding paper. I didn't have any so I just rubbed them to a concrete wall in circular motion.

Step 3: Prepare the Magnets

If your magnets come in plastic covers like mine do, just split them apart and your good to go..

Step 4: Prepare for Glueing

Fill large holes with some paper before glueing. Too much glue will make the toy too heavy for the magnets to hold.
Grease a smooth surface with some butter or nonstick spray so that it is easier to take the pieces off afterwards.

Step 5: Glue the Magnets

Place the magnets on the greased glass surface. Heat up your glue gun and fill up the toy with a generous amount of hot glue. Place the toy upside down on top of the magnet on the glass surface and press firmly untill dry.

Step 6: Clean Up

Once the glue is cool and dry twist the toy to remove from the glass surface. It should detach easily but it would be very hard to remove if the surfaced isn't greased with butter or so. Remove the excess glue around the edges carefully and wipe off any grease with a kitchen towel. The magnet should be exposed and the dry glue would have a very smooth surface.

Step 7: Have Fun!

The toys are now ready. Match the correct animals parts or mix them up and be creative. Have Fun!
