Introduction: Mobile Holder/Stand Made With Cement

This Project is how to make a Mobile Holder or Mobile Stand. This is a Very useful Project for all, as every one use their Mobile/Tab daily for Hours. Some times for just watching videos its useful to have a Mobile Stand so that we can watch with out holding it ;-) so here we go...

Why DIY and Why Cement?
Now its very easy to find a Mobile Holder for very little Money, so why we need this DIY Project? Well the Most of the Holder you find in Market are Platic (cheaper one´s) or some Sort of Wood or Light Metal. For the Perfect and long time use, the Holder must have some weight. Imagin in Vertical Mode and you want to tough or slide on Screen, If the Holder is light weight...the whole prpouse of having a Holder gone.

Cement is very good Material for many Art Projects. So for this Project I thought of using Cement as my Main Material. Cement needs Reinforcement for its strength. Normally in construction we use Steel as Reinforcement, here i am using a Cloth. Its enough for this Project and its easy to handle with. At last it gives the required Stability(Weight) to use the Mobile with one hand.

Supplies

  • Small Cloth Piece (80mm*200mm)
  • Fine Sand (about 50-100g)
  • Water as needed
  • Plastic Foil for working (abt 250*200)
  • Cement (about 300-400g)

Step 1: Project Model / Design Review

To start with, I just made a Model with a Packaging Carton to check the Design and Dimensions.

With this Step you get a brief Idea about the End Product. Its just to check and adjust the Dimensions according your Mobile/Tab.

Our Design consists of 3 Portions.

Base Part: Its the base, I made it about 80mm*120mm

Tilted Part: Its needed for resting our Mobile to make a suitable Viewing Angle. I made it abt 80mm*80mm.

Wedge Part: Its for Holding the Mobile, without it Moblie wont Stay there!

Step 2: Making Cement Sand Mixture

I Mixed Cement with fine Sand to Make the Basic Structure.

For this take 1 Portion of Sand and 4 Portions of Cement.

Mix them well and add little water and Mix well to get a even Paste.

(If you dont have Sand, No Problem, you can use only Cement for this Project)

              Step 3: Making "Base Part"

Use a Plastic Foil, so that you dont need to worry about Sticking the Cement to Ground and also for easy cleaning of your work space.

Place some Cement Mixture on the Foil and Make it like a thin Rectangle as shown (about 80mm*120mm).

Now place the Cloth on this Cement and press gently.

Now place some more Cement Mixture on cloth and Make it even.

This will be the "Base Part" of our Mobile Holder.

              Step 4: Making "Tilted Part"

Now Make another Thin Cement Rectangle (about 80mm*80-90mm) for the "Tilted Portion"

Now place the Cloth on this Cement and press gently.

Now place some more Cement Mixture on cloth and Make it even.

This will be the "Tilted Part" of our Mobile Holder.

Make sure you keep about 20mm Space between these 2 Rectangular Parts. The Space needed for Tilting the Small Part after its Dry and Hard.

Step 5: Making "Wedge Part" and Drying

After Making both Rectangular Parts Make a Small Wedge as shown, and let it Dry for at least 6hrs.

Make Sure the Middle Empty Portion is relatively clear from Cement, so that later we can tilt it.

I kept a small wooden stick as shown here for this purpose.

              Step 6: Tilting and Positioning

After Drying tilt the Small Part and check which Angle is suited for your Mobile.

I used a Small Stone Piece as shown to get the required Angle.

Now Fill the corner with Cement as shown. Make sure everything stay in Position and let it Dry.

Step 7: Cleaning and Final Touch-Ups

After Drying for a Day, Take out gently and Clean the extra Cement from all Edges.

If any Portion not Good or Broken do the finishing work.

I filled the Inner Tilted Corner with Cement as shown in Photos.

Here I used Only Cement with water. Let it Dry...

Step 8: Scrub the Surface and Final Drying

After I made required Adjustments, I Scrubbed the Surface to get little Smooth Finish.

Keep the Structure for 2-3 days and keep watering it 2-3 time a day.

              Step 9: Use It :-)

Its Done :-) Use the Mobile Holder in Vertical or Landscape Mode ....
