Since I bought my car, I’ve been frustrated by the depth of the cup holder. Particularly when I ordered a small coffee, it dropped into the well and was not easily retrieved, especially with gloves on.

Coffee cup and cardboard sleeve.

Step 1:

This is such a simple hack but it only recently dawned on me.

Keep in mind that the coffee sleeve is tapered; trapezoidal in shape when it’s flattened. When properly put on the cup, it’s designed to slide up the cup to protect your hand from burning.

However, if you invert the sleeve and slide it on upside down, it will become lodged on the bottom of the cup, still leaving 1- 1 1/2” below the cup.
