My name is theophile and I am a high school student. Every year I have the same problem. My things are messy and I often lose some. There are always things all over my room and when I look for something in particular I never find it in my bazaar...

Step 1: Idea

This had to stop, I needed an idea to organize my affairs. And as we often say, you have to combine business with pleasure, so I thought of making a storage panel for my things by working on its shape and design. So I started by thinking about the specifications of my storage.

Step 2: Specifications

So my idea was to create a storage space in my bedroom. This space had to be easy to access, available, and where you can see directly if an object is missing. I immediately thought of storage in my parents' cellar. We have a wooden panel placed on the wall on which we store each tool. In order not to lose them, each location is made to measure and there is the drawing of the tool on each location. This allows you to immediately identify if a tool is missing. In addition I wanted to add an interesting feature to my panel. I wanted it to be adjustable. This idea makes it possible to create a base on which to place storage panels. So we have endless possibilities for adding new objects to our panel.

Step 3: Inspiration

It was therefore necessary to imagine a panel with a fixed base and other panels that are grafted onto it. I then thought of Mondrian's paintings which I find very inspiring. These rectangles of colors inspired me the panels on which I put the objects. In addition, this panel can create new Mondrian paintings to infinity! The layout can easily be changed so it is impossible to get tired of this unique and practical new Decorative object.

Step 4: Creation of Panels

I then started drawing my panel. I thought about how many panels I was going to put in and what size. My base panel is a 8 by 8inch panel. To create a true Mondrian effect I make several larger panels and some smaller ones. These panels are arranged on a large panel of 31 by 23inch. All these panels are removable, they can be put in any place thanks to small rails that I draw on fusion 360 and then print them in 3d.

Step 5: Objects

I then decided on which panel I was going to place which piece. This allowed me to understand the creation of the pieces that will serve as storage for the objects and to create a first sketch. After this first sketch it is necessary to make a precise plan on the scale of the room with dimensions. This sheet helps me to make the part faster in 3d on Fusion 360. On my panel there will therefore be storage for, a ruler, USB keys, pens, a keyboard, a compass, a tape measure, a tape and finally a phone holder to film my office (For this one I found a superb file available on the internet.

Step 6: 3D Print

I printed the parts I had modeled and this step took me quite a while. Indeed it is sometimes complicated to know precisely the size of the storage. So I sometimes made some mistakes that I readjusted and then printed the part again. Another problem occurred in the beginning, the long parts like the rails did not attach well to the support and lifted up during the print. I then solved this problem by putting a special glue on my tray before each print.

Step 7: Panels

We had to find the right material for the panels. I opted for dense cardboard 2mm thick. This cardboard is perfect for this project because it is strong, lightweight and easy to cut. It is also easy to paint and makes a nice smooth coat with the paint. For the large panel I bought a large cardboard of the same type, it is clearer because it needed a large surface.

Step 8: Assembly

Once the panels were cut and all the parts printed, I was able to glue each part on its panel. For this I used green scotch glue which glues the cardboard very well. I relied on my table to know which panel accommodated which room. I then indicated in small what color the panels were to help me with the painting.

Step 9: Painting

To paint the small panels I used acrylic spray paint. I needed 6 different colors, black, white, red, yellow, blue and grey. The color applied very well and one coat was enough although some might need another coat. One night of drying was enough for the paint to set.

Step 10: Assembly

Finally I assembled the different parts to create my storage panel. I glued the rails and slide my panels.
