Intro: Monkey Island Feral Chicken Fridge Magnets

Monkey Island series is the best adventure game I had the opportunity to play. In the third part "Curse of the Monkey Island" Guybrush lands on an island named Plunder where he finds some Feral Chicken.
Some time back I had the opportunity to make fridge magnets that looked like those chicken. Now I'm about to make some more of them and I thought that I can make a tutorial showing how to make them by yourself.

STEP 1: What You Will Need and Step 1

What you will need:

Tools:

• Scroll saw (in my case Proxxon DSH)
• Hot glue gun

Materials:

• Wood (in my case it was oak plywood)
• Grey undercoad paint (in my case it was Montana spray, color Mouse)
• Paints: (in my case it was Revell paints)
• White (Revell number 301)
• Red (Revell number 330)
• Black (Revell number 8)
• Magnet
• Glue stick
• Hot-melt adhesive for glue gun
• Masking tape
• Sandpaper

Step 1:
Print the pattern (download the pattern here) and cut the wood to the dimension of the pattern.

STEP 2: Masking Tape

Take two pieces of wood, place one on another like a sandwich and wrap it around with the masking tape.

STEP 3: Pattern

Spread stick glue on the upper side of the stack and place the pattern on it.

STEP 4: Cutting and Sanding

Cut the pattern.

Peel off the masking tape and sand the burrs made in the process of cutting.

STEP 5: Base Paint

Place the chicken on a piece of wood and paint them with grey undercoat.

STEP 6: Sketch

Sketch the pattern with a pencil. 

STEP 7: Colors

Start with painting the eyes, then comb and the beak.

STEP 8: Contours

Using a permanent marker with a large tip paint the contours. Next using a fine tip market correct the places that you were unable to get with the first marker and finish all of the lines inside the pattern.

STEP 9: Magnet

Back side can be painted black but this is only an option. When the paint dries up lay the hot glue and place the magnet.

STEP 10: Finished
