Intro: Monogram Key Chain - How to Make Your Wife Happy, Part. 1

I have been working on a bigger but related project which was my primary purpose for becoming a member at Tech Shop, Pittsburgh. I was having some trouble getting my project to be a finished product that I was happy with. So this was also an experiment to test an alternative solution.

If you would like to recreate this key chain fob, here are a few things you will need...
Since "I Made It At Tech Shop"...
1. A Tech Shop Membership or Laser Cutter
2. Some 3 - 4 oz vegatan leather hide. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com
3. Leather Dye, Cleaning agent, and top coat. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com
4. A grommet http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com or JoAnne Fabrics
5. a remnant of 100% Nylon fabric JoAnne Fabrics
6. Fabric Glue JoAnne Fabrics

STEP 1: Step: 1

Step One:
Select and Dye your fabric... I will write a separate instructable on this process, and post the link here.

STEP 2: Step: 2

Using fabric glue adhere the nylon fabric to the back of your dry dyed leather.

STEP 3: Step: 3

Create your design and prepare it for the laser etcher cutter. (I have wrote several instructables on the subject, and if you have a membership to Tech Shop or own a laser cutter you know how to do this already as well)

STEP 4: Step: 4

Cut your shape, I find that cutting it Fabric side up in reverse or "mirror" helps to make sure you get a good cut and seer on the fabric it may take multiple passes to get all the way through.

STEP 5: Step: 5

Punch a grommet in your shape. I found a bicycle spoke in the bin wall and with a pair of needle nose pliers and a bench vise made a quick spiral hoop to attach this to a key ring.

STEP 6: Step: 6

Give the newly made prize to your wife....
