Introduction: Moon Lamp Battery Holder
Hi All,
I was inspired by https://www.instructables.com/Print-Your-Own-Moon/ and printed my own Moon
The biggest challenge was to install a light inside the moon. In India, I could not get a ready-made light that could fit gracefully inside the moon and stay portable. So in this instructable, I will share how I made my own battery holder and lit up the moon
Step 1: What Do We Need?
- 3D printer
- White PLA Filament
- 2 LEDs
- Switch ( 5mm x 2mm)
- 3 Coin cell battery: AG13, LR44, A76, 357
Software
- Tinkercad
- Cura
Step 2: 3D Print : Moon
- I got the 3d model from Leung CHAN
- Original link for his work, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2955930/
- He has several designs, but I choose a 3inch moon with 28mm hole
- Direct link for download https://www.thingiverse.com/download:5052942
- It took 6 hrs roughly, with no supports and 100% infill at 0.2 layer height
Step 3: Designing the Base
- I used Tinkercad to design the base
- It can hold 3 LR44 and a switch
- Locking mechanism to lock on the moon
- Download model from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4588379
- 3d print it at 100% scale, no supports needed
Step 4: Circuit
- Place the batteries in the tube
- Solder 2 LEDs in series
- Connect the battery, switch, and LEDs
Step 5: Finishing
- Slide the base on the Moon and rotate to lock in place
- Switch off the room light and switch the moon on
- Admire the moon lamp
