Introduction: More Efficient Kitchen Setup

Do you ever feel crammed cooking in the kitchen with another person? If you do, this new innovative kitchen setup is perfect for you! Sometimes cooking directly next to someone is overwhelming and annoying. In this kitchen, there are two different cooking setups. That means two different butcher blocks, two different stove tops, two different microwaves, and two different ovens! They are located on opposite sides of the kitchen to ensure that each cook has the most room possible! There is only one fridge because a household normally shares food and ingredients. There is also only one cleaning station because cleaning together gets the job done quicker!

Supplies

TinkerCAD

The supplies mostly just consist of common kitchen appliances such as ovens, stoves, microwaves, refrigerator, freezer, a sink, and a dishwasher. The only other supplies you really need are wood, knobs, paint, and the actual things you put into the kitchen.

Step 1: Initial Plan

For this specific kitchen, the goal is to have easy mobility even if multiple people are working. The layout is pretty much just a regular kitchen with almost every appliance being doubled, this way if two people are cooking, they won't get in each others way.

Step 2: Microwave & Oven

The first step to creating your dream kitchen is to install your microwaves and ovens. With this setup, your making the most of the space you have! Install a microwave on top, and an oven on the bottom. Usually when your using the microwave, your not putting very heavy things in it, so being on the top won't make it a struggle to lift your food. You normally put heavier things in your oven, like baking trays, so being on the bottom will allow for easy lifting .

Step 3: Again, But on the Other Side

Now your going to put the same setup on the opposite side. By having two different setups like this, you can avoid bumping into whoever else is cooking in the kitchen with you.

Step 4: Butcher Block & Stove

You can't have a kitchen without a stove! Directly next to the microwave and oven, your going to install a butcher block where you can take care of all your chopping needs! There will be a cabinet located underneath the counter top, allowing for storage space. In the left corner of the butcher block there is going to be an open space for a compost bin. This way when your working with food that leaves behind scraps you can just sweep them into the bin, and throw them out later when you're done cooking! Next to the butcher block your going to install an electric stove, with four stove tops! The reason you're installing an electric stove instead of a gas stove is because since a wooden butcher block is right next to it, we don't want the gas stove to somehow have its' fire catch the butcher block on fire. The electric stove is the safer option!

Step 5: Repeat...again!

Now just like you did with the microwave and stove, you're going to copy the exact same butcher block and stove and just place it on the other side of the kitchen. By doing this, you won't have to share your counterspace and stove tops with anyone else- they will have their own.

Step 6: Fridge & Freezer

Now, obviously you need a fridge and freezer to store the food! Install it in between both cooking stations so it is easy access to both cooks.

Step 7: Sink & Dishwasher

Located directly across the kitchen from the refridgerator, will be your sink and dishwasher. Of course you need a sink- you need water! Underneath the sink will be more cabinets for other storage, and next to this will be the diswasher. For the amount of cooking you will be doing, a dishwasher is gonna become very handy! The countertop above the diswasher will allow you to put the dishes you washed by hand, to dry!

Step 8: Final Setup

Now add some final touches like a trash bin and some pots and pans! This is what you're kitchen would look like if you follow these steps! With this setup you could easily cook and move around with another person, without getting in their way. Sometimes you just want to cook different food than the person you live with, and especially if you like cooking meals at home, this setup would be perfect!
