This rug is made up of 12 pieces, all of the same shape, size and colours. The technique is loop stitches worked in double crochet and single crochet. The loops give it a cosy, soft touch. You can combine the squares any way you like, here are only a few combinations. Beginning is at the dark-red corner.

Step 1: Materials

Blend thread in following colours: dark-red, brown, pink, white. Hook no. 4,5. Scissors.
About 80 gr of white; 500 gr of dark-red; 250 gr of pink; 400 gr of brown.

Step 2: Crocheting the Loops

Learn how to crochet loops here:

Step 3: The Pattern

Stitches:
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
trc = triple crochet
dcl = double crochet with loops
st(s) = stitch(es)
L(s) = loops

Even rows: double crochet in loop stitch without increasing
Odd rows: single crochet stitches (no loops) with increasing.

Begin each even row with 3 loops instead of 1st dc.
Begin each odd row with one loop instead of 1st sc.

Begin at one corner with dark-red - 4 loops closed in a circle.
1. row - 8 sc in the circle; turn. (Turn in the end of every row.)
2. row - 8 dcl.

Step 4: Finishing

Make 12 pieces. Wash them gently and, while still wet, form them in the right square shapes and make sure they are the same size. Allow to dry completely. Sew anti-slip stripes to the back of each square. Arrange them into a little rug in any way you like.
You can also sew some buttons and loops in corners and button them together to stay in one place.
