Mozzarella sticks are a fun, quick and easy snack that you can make at home. No one will ever argue with breaded and fried cheese sticks served with a side of marinara sauce. This is a sure-fire crowd pleaser. They are great for parties, game nights, or for simply going up on a Tuesday. Nobody is choosy when there are mozzarella sticks on the table. Be sure to make a lot because these don't last long.

Step 1: Mozzarella Sticks Ingredients

2 16oz blocks of mozzarella cheese
2 cups Italian bread crumbs
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Marinara sauce for dipping
Oil for frying

Step 2: Cut the Cheese

Cut the cheese into strips that are 1/2" thick by about 3" to 4" long.

Step 3: Bread Crumb Mix

In a large bowl mix together the bread crumbs, the parmesan cheese, and the salt.

Step 4: Egg Batter

In another bowl, mix together the eggs, milk and garlic.

Step 5: Double Dip the Cheese

DIp a piece of cheese in the egg batter and then dredge it in the bread crumb mix and set it aside. Repeat this process for all of the cheese sticks.

Once they are all coated once, dip and bread them all a second time using the same process.

Step 6: Freeze the Mozzarella Sticks

Put the mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and cover them with foil.

Place them in the freezer until frozen. This can take a few hours up to a day (depending on your freezer).

Step 7: Deep Fry

Bring your deep fryer (or a pot filled halfway with oil) up to 375 degrees.

Take the mozzarella sticks out of the freezer and drop them in for about a minute. They are ready when they turn a nice golden brown.

I found that letting them defrost for a few minutes makes them a little 'meltier'.

Step 8: Soak Up Excess Oil

Place them on a plate with a paper towel when they are done to soak up the excess oil.

However, don't let them sit for too long! They are best when they are warm.

Step 9: Marinara Sauce

Serve with marinara sauce.

If you are feeling particularly enterprising, you can make your own. Otherwise, try to pick one out from the store that isn't too watery.

Step 10: Enjoy!

Once you have the mozzarella sticks and the marinara sauce, the only thing left to do is chow down.
