Mutant Mask Pumpkin

Is this a "normal" pumpkin wearing a mask? Or is it undergoing some kind of mutation? I'm just not sure.

What I am sure about is that this started as a somewhat lopsided pumpkin. And then it got hollowed out and whittled a bit, and then it got some acrylic paint on it. And now it's on my porch and I'm kind of scared to walk past it because I'm pretty sure it ate my cat.
