Introduction: My First Hydroponic

While growing winter vegetables this year the idea struck in my mind to try hydroponic vegetables also. As I was transferring the nursery of eggplants to grow bags I decided to use eggplant for hydroponic also which will be explained in detail now.

Step 1: Seeds Germination

Egg plant seeds are grown in coco peat using an empty egg tray. When plants reached height of about 2~2.5 inch they were shifted to grow bags. Also few of them I selected for hydroponics.

Step 2:

I used a piece of sponge, Styrofoam disposable cup with holes cut into it, a big disposable glass with lid and hole cutted into it to fit Styrofoam cup into it. In addition to this you will be needing micro nutrients to add into the water and aluminum foil to wrap around the glass so that light do not reach it other wise it will grow algae.

Step 3: Puting Plant Into Foam

A small hole is made in the center of the sponge and plant is carefully inserted into it.

Step 4: Transferring Plant to Water Container

Plant inserted foam is placed into the Styrofoam cup with roots touching bottom of the cup. The cup is the placed in bigger contained inserted into its lid. The container is filled with water containing micro nutrients. The volume of water should be that it just touches the bottom part of plant so that roots can get sufficient air also for growth.

DON'T FORGET TO COVER THE CONTAINER WITH ALUMINUM FOIL OR ANY OTHER SUCH THING THAT LIGHT DON'T REACH THE WATER OTHERWISE IT WILL GROW ALGAE.
