It looks like painters tape, which is a reeeeeely bad idea since the adhesive in the tape tends to seep (via osmosis) through plastics and bind to the silicon in the circuitry rendering it irreparably damaged. Duct tape is a better choice since it uses a synthetic rubber adhesive and tends to bind more to the plastic (its why when you remove it, you frequently get residue while with the painters tape you get no residue).
