Introduction: Mystery Braid Wrist Band for Electronics Enthusiast With Ribbon Cable

This is a spinoff for a very famous concept called a mystery braid. Leather strip is braided in such a way that the braid is incorporated into a leather strip which is closed at both ends. I learned making that the hard way. Here I am making this with electronics enthusiast's favorite product the ribbon cable. Made a wrist band with it. I totally loved the output. Hope you like it too.

Supplies

Not much tools are required. Just a ribbon cable scissors, cutters, end clips (I am using magnets)

Step 1: Measure

Measure your wrist or what ever thing you want the mystery braid for. Take 1 inch extra and cut the ribbon cable.

Step 2: Make the Strips

Make slits to separate the cable into 3 parts. I am using a 10 wire cable so I cut it into wires of 3,4,3. If you have a cable of 12 wires you can have 4,4,4 strips. Make sure the strips are not separated at the ends. Leave an inch from each end.

Step 3: Make the Braid

Follow this video to make the braid. I am also adding the video from where I learnt the method. Make sure the wires don't twist or the beauty of the braid will be disturbed.

Step 4: End Closers

I glued 2 magnets to the ends with drops of super glue. You can use other things too. Recommendations are jewelry end caps.

Step 5: Wear It

You are done. Flaunt your creation.
