Introduction: Intermidate Air Rifle With Interchangable Stock

This instructable inspired by irwinner's https://www.instructables.com/id/25MM-Pneumatic-Sniper-Rifle/  will show you a similar gun but still completely different.  It is relatively cheap and uses a modded sprinkler valve for a valve. It's an intermediate build and has some tricky parts to it so have at least some experience in pvc guns and that area. Ie's extreamly fun and entertaining to use when its all finished.

WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMP THIS IF YOU HAVE LITTLE OR NO EXPERIENCE IN MAKING PVC AIR CANNONS OR RELATED THINGS. NEVER AIM OR SHOOT THIS AT ANYTHING LIVING THIS INCLUDES PEOPLE AND ANIMALS. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR HARM INFLICTED TO PEOPLE OR PROPERTY BY THIS GUN. BUILD AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK . ALWYAS BE SAFE WHEN USING THIS WARN BEFORE SHOOTING, CLEAR THE AREA AND NEVER LOOK DOWN THE BARREL EVEN WHEN NOT LOADED. TREAT THIS AS IF IT IS A REAL FIREARM

Step 1: Materials & Tools

Here is a list of the tools and materials needed to make it. Some of them may not be available in some places but most of them can be found everywhere. Make sure all your pieces are pressure rated. For the sprinkler valve here is a link ,http://www.rotteneggsx.com/r3/show/se/212460.html. instead of using a 1/4" pipe fitting use the hose barb. Also you can just keep the solenoid in instead of using epoxy its cheaper.

Valves
-Modded sprinkler valve
PVC pieces
- 1' of 1 1/2' pvc
- 4' of 3/4" pvc
- 3 3/4" 90* elbows
- 2 3/4" 45* angles
- 1 3/4" Tee bend
- 2 3/4" caps
- 3 3/4"- 1 1/2" reducers- 1 threaded, 2 non-threaded
- 2 1 1/2" Tee's
- 1 1"-1 1/2"reducers(2 if you don't already have a barrel to use)
- 1 3/4" male adapter
- 1 1" stub out approx. 3" long
Miscellaneous parts
- approx. 2' of pressure rated tube   3/8" ID  1/4" OD
- 1 3/8" threaded 1/4" hose barb 90*( if you dont have this you can use a 3/8" by 1/4" hose barb, as long as it fits the tube)
-2 3/8" by 1/4" hose barb( if you dont have the part listed above)
-3/8" schrader valve
-air compressor blowgun piece
- 2 extra small hose clamps, to fit the hose
Tools
-drill with 3/8" drill bit
-teflon tape
-adjustable wrench
-flathead driver to tighten hose clamps
- pvc primer and glue
- vice
-something to cut pvc, hacksaw ect.

Step 2: Preperation/stock Building

The first thing you have to do is mod the sprinkler valve. instead of using the brass connector screw in the right angle hose barb. You can use some teflon tape but not alot. After that start cutting the pieces of 3/4" pvc for the stock. I don't have any specified lengths so you have to make your own.( if you want exact measurements add 2.5 cm to each pipe you measure because that is how far the pipe will go in to the connections, this only applies to 3/4") Then cut the pieces for the handles. cut the piece for the front handle closest to the valve 9-10 in. long and another one 3" long. For the back one about 8" long. For the main air chamber body it is 1' of 1 1/2" pvc. That should give you all the pipe lengths for the chamber.

Let's start with the stock. The most imposrtant this for all of it is to make sure all pieces are straight and in line with each other. First put in the stub out on the bottom of the Tee. Next the longest piece on the side of the Tee. That will be the top of the stock. I suggest waiting to put on any corner bends yet as it will be easier to put them on later. Now glue on the 45* bend onto the bottom stub out. Be sure it is lined up with the rst of the stock.when that is dried put the other piece on the opposite side of the 45*. It should be about an inch longer thatn the stub out. Again be sure to line it up before the glue dries. Now add on the piece coming from the other side of that 45*. The piece you just attached should be going parralle with the top of the stock. Take the last piece of pvc you cut for the stock and attach the 2 corners to it. These are the most important pieces to have straight. When those dry you can easily put it onto the rest of the stock, then glue it. There should be the other side of the stock still unused, put in a 3/4" stub out and glue on your male adapter. You now have the stock

Step 3: Main Air Chamber & Handles

You should already have the pvc cut for the main air chamber so this will be much easier to explain. Start with one of the Tee's. On the bottom of it glue in the 3/4"-1 1/2" reducers but leave it at that. On one of the side glue in the 1' of 1 1/2" pvc. Take the other Tee and put the last 3/4"-1 1/2" in the bottom and glue it. LIke the other glue one side onto the pipe. WAIT durring the short time the glue dries push both Tee's bottoms onto a flat surface and let them dry. This should ensure they are aligned with eachother on the pipe. You will end up with a pipe with a Tee on each side of it, on the Tee's bottoms the should be a non-threaded reducer. On one of the tee's glue in the THREADED 3/4"-1 1/2" reducer. On the other Tee glue in the 1"-1 1/2" reducer then glue in a 1" stub out into that. Then the 1" male adapter onto that.
            Handles
First take the shorter pice you cut for the back handle and glue it into the back handle. You can also glue on the cap for it. For the front handle take a piece appeox. an inch longer than an invisible stub out( that means the two connectors that hold the stub out touch eachother and the peice cannot be seen, make it about an inch longer than that) glue that into the front reducer. Do not glue the corner on to that without put the longer handle onto the corner first. Glue the longer handle onto the corner and then that onto the stub out. The length of it will make it easy to align with the rest of the gun and other pieces. Drill the 3/8" hold into the cap and install the schrader valve before glueing.

Step 4: Adding the Sprinkler Valve & Stock

Now you can finally add on the sprinkler valve onto the 1" male adapter. Use some teflon tape to seal it. Screw it until it's sealed and upside down so all the parts point towards the ground Attach one end of the hose to the sprinkler valve hose barb and secure it with a hose clamp. Attach the other end of the hose to the hose barb on the blowgun and secure that with the other hose clamp. Your valve should now be in place and ready for use.
The last thing you have to do is screw on the sstock. Use some teflon tape for it. since its threading you can perfectly align it with the handles. After that Your gun should be completed.

Step 5: Extra's & Painting

Well painting isn't really that much. A good black makes it look real nice and you can paint in white anything you want to say or stand out with a template. Just make sure you don't paint over the schrader valve. You can use spray paint but it may not say in place and drip. For extras there are a couple things.

1. the threading on the reducer where the stock is attached allows you to put on any type of stock to suit your needs. You can change the size of you air chamber, how it's held, over all weight, and looks.
2 . using tube for your blowgun trigger lets you postition your trigger anywhere. All you need is some electrical tape to keep it in place.
3. with the stock you can look right down the gun for easy aiming and it allows you to add a sight.
