This is my first instructible. I had just got my old nintendo from my parents house and the game wouldnt work so i tried to combine some parts that i had laying around. turned out pretty good and my cat loves it too. oh dont point the laser in anythings eyes. the diode is rated to 4.5 volts but i have 9 volts going to it so that might shorten the life a bit.

Step 1: Supplies and Tools

Supplies

Nintendo zapper (ebay $10)
Red Laser Diode (http://thelaserguy.stores.yahoo.net $11.50)
9 volt battery Snap Connector (http://www.radioshack.com 5 pack $2.69)
Red and Black Wire

Tools

Dremel
Wire cutter
Hot glue gun
Soldiering gun
Philips head screw driver

Step 2: Taking It Apart

Take the screws for the outer light grey cover and then the inner cover. Cut the lower part with your dremel so a battery can fit and be easily replaced.

Step 3: Batter and Trigger

Connect the trigger switch, laser diode, and battery clip so when you pull the trigger the battery gives power to the diode. Hot glue all the wires in place so they stay in place.

Step 4: Mounting the Laser

Mount the laser with hot glue. Make sure it is pointing straight before the glue cools down.

Step 5: A Slot to Charge the Battery

Leave enough wire so the battery can slip out to be replaced easily. I used electrical tape to better control the wires.

Step 6: Putting It Back Together

Put the dark grey cover back on. It took some test fits and more cutting to make the battery fit in and slide out easily. becareful with that screw hole i kind of cut into that and had to put hotglue so the screw will still kind of tighten.
