Introduction: Nissan Micra K12 Upgrade Front Wiper Motor Linkage Repair Replacement Push Rod Rods Set 2003-2010 Instruction Guide Install
Symptoms of the fault
The symptoms of this fault are very obvious; windscreen wipers simply not working, there's only one windscreen wiper working or the windscreen wiper movement is erratic or juddering with the wiper link popping off frequently.
The cause
The original soft plastic bush bearings on each end of the two wiper linkage push rods wear down leading to the push rods popping off of their respective ball joint. Dependent on which rod pops off or if the rods haven't popped of but there is excess movement in the joint this will cause the symptoms noted above. It is a very common fault on this model. Until now it has only been possible to buy a whole new wiper mechanism at vast cost which would just fail again
The solution
Our high quality new rods simply replace the original worn out rods; this is a very simple process, with full instructions included. Save the cost of a complete replacement mechanism that would just fail again. Our rods are fitted with upgraded high quality plastic bearings giving a smoother and more reliable wipe, a vast improvement over the OEM part, designed to last the life of the vehicle not the life of the vehicles warranty.

Step 1: Label the Wiper Arms
Wrap masking tape around the wiper arms and label them n/s for passenger side and o/s for drivers side. This is key for the re-fit to ensure the correct arm is on the correct spindle.
Step 2: Remove the Wiper Arms
Using a flat bladed screw driver remove the caps on the wiper arms to reveal the nuts.
Remove the 14mm nut from each arm.
Once the nuts are removed from the arms pull on the arms to remove from their spindle.
If the arms can't easily be removed re-fit the nuts. With the nuts re-fitted shock the nuts using a small hammer or mallet to shock the arms free, the arms will now be free to be removed.
Step 3: Remove the Scuttle Panel
Remove the two Philips screws from each side of the scuttle. It is also worthwhile removing the locator part of the screw using a flat bladed screw driver.
On the n/s (drivers side) of the car the washer jet pipe work is clipped on to the scuttle panel; this needs to be un-clipped and set clear for removal of the scuttle.
Step 4: Remove the Scuttle Panel
On the lower half of the scuttle panel there are little clips holding the panel in place. Using a small pair of grips or pliers grip the clip and using a flat bladed screw driver or pry bar lever the panel up to pull the clip through the locator hole. Repeat for all clips.
Once all the clips have been removed the scuttle panel is free to be removed.
Step 5: Remove the Wiper Motor and Linkage
Unplug the wiper motor and tuck the wires / connector out of the way.
5 bolts and 1 nut need to be removed to be able to remove the linkage from the vehicle. 3x 10mm bolts on the motor side of the linkage and 2x 10mm bolts and 1x10 mm nut from the other side.
Once all bolts and the nut are removed the linkage is free to be removed from the vehicle.
Step 6: Remove the Old Wiper Linkage Push Rods
Using a flat bladed screw driver or a pry bar lever the old wiper linkage rods off. Some will have likely already popped off others are likely to be worn and as such will pop off easily.
Step 7: Fit Our New Linkage Push Rods
Please note the image showing the correct orientation of the new push rods.
Please follow the below to attach the rods to the ball joints:
Position the bush at the end of our push rod over the ball joint, place a 22mm socket over the bush, using a G clamp as shown wind the G clamp in; pressing the bush over the ball joint. You will hear a click sound once the bush is fully engaged and secured on the ball joint.
Repeat this process for all 4 bushes.
Step 8: Refit the Linkage to the Vehicle
Slot the linkage back in to the vehicle and re-fit the bolts and nut finger tight; this will allow you to move the linkage slightly until seated correctly, you can then fasten the bolts and nut up tight.
Plug the electrical plug back into the wiper motor.
Test the wiper linkage to ensure that all is functioning correctly.
Step 9: Refit the Scuttle Panel
Slot the scuttle panel back into position.
Insert the locator part of the screw back in on both sides and refit the screws.
Refit the clips back in along the scuttle panel.
Refit the pipe work for the washer jets.
Step 10: Refit the Wiper Arms
Refit the wiper arms and tighten the nuts.
Refit the plastic nut covers.
Test the windscreen wipers.
