Introduction: No-Sew Pet Bed
Hi!
I am going to show you how to make a DIY no-sew pet bed!!
Step 1:
This no-sew pet bed is easy to make. All you need is just a couple yards of fleece fabric or an old blanket and some stuffing is basically all you need.
MATERIALS
- scissors
- 2 yards of fleece fabric
- 1 large elastic band
- stuffing
- straight pins
- sharp fabric pen
- 1 yardstick

Make Pattern and Measure Fabric
Make a pattern out of paper first, this will keep you organized and really comes in handy if you are using a fabric with an intricate print that you want to make sure is centered. Use craft paper, old wrapping paper or newspaper to create a 36” x 36” square. Fleece fabric is recommended because it’s super soft and won’t fringe when it’s cut so it will give you a finished edge. Fold the fabric in half or layer it so you’ll have two pieces. Secure the pattern to the fleece with straight pins and cut the fleece or trace the pattern on the fabric using a fabric pen.
STEP 2
Make It a Circle Fold each square into fours – pretty-side in – and pin in place. With the fabric pen, draw a round shape on one square from one corner to the opposite corner. To do this, make a mark at about the 18-1/2” point and measure and mark from the middle on the edges of the fabric square. Draw a line connecting all three marks in an oval shape.
STEP 3
Cut Circle Pin the four layers together and cut through all four pieces of fabric along the pen line. Repeat this step with the other piece of fabric and you’ll have two 27” diameter circles.
STEP 4
Measure and Mark Outer Edge Unpin and open both circular pieces of fleece and put the two pieces together, pretty-sides facing and pin together. Draw a circle four inches from the edge of the fabric. This will be the guide you use when cutting the tabs.
STEP 5
Cut Outer Edge Strips Cut tabs 1" wide by 4" long (to the guide line you just drew). Make sure to cut through both pieces of fleece at the same time so it all lines up.
STEP 6
Make Center Pleat Before tying the tabs, make a cool pleated detail in the middle. It will give your bed a finishing touch. Unpin the fleece and fold the fabric piece that’s going to be on top into fours, pretty-side in. Wrap an elastic band around the corner about two to three inches in. Open the piece of fleece and place it on top of the other piece with the pretty-side out for both pieces. Pin both pieces together.
STEP 7
Start Tying Tie the tabs into a double knot all the way around the dog bed. Make sure that you are tying one tab from the top and one from the bottom and that they are all lining up. Don’t miss one or you’ll have a big hole.
STEP 8
Stuff Bed and Tie Final Knots Leave a 10” opening to stuff the bed with cotton batting or old sheets, pillows or clothes. Fill it enough so that the bed can lie flat and finish tying the remaining tabs.
I hope your pet enjoys this!
