Intro: No Sew Fitted T-shirt, So KNotty!

Ever get sick of having x-large t-shirts when you're actually a medium/small size?
Want a cheap way to make a 99cent T-shirt seem fitted?

All you need is a scissors and a cheap T-shirt, and you can show off!

STEP 1: Fold Your Shirts in Half

You'll need two shirts, the one that's too big, and one that fits.
Fold both of them in half.

STEP 2: Match Up the T-shirts

You are going to use the t shirt that fits as a guide to keep you from cutting too small.
Carefully match up the tops of the sleeves and the centerlines, keeping them individually folded and with the smaller one placed on top of the other.

STEP 3: Cut Here

This is the fun part-
Start cutting the shirt in strips up to the point where the other shirt starts.
Feel free to change the width of the strips, keeping in mind that the thicker the strip, the larger might be the hole where you'll be knotting.
The pattern I used here makes for a "kimono" styled open armpit.
You might want to experiment.

STEP 4: Knot the Strips

Start knotting each strand on both sides.
I opted to keep some untied for an easier fit.

It's done! Enjoy! ;)

this is what you can do with those big clothes that you bought by mistake. next time just make sure on buying and avoid wasting money. most of the time I prefer buying online like this site where i usually bought cheap t-shirts http://www.uniformpoint.com/t-shirt.aspx with them I have no worries of sending back their wrong shipped items.
What a great idea! I LOVE it. My daughter is always looking for crafting ideas and upcycling. . . .an added bonus :D
thank you so much, i had a large t shirt that were wearing for S.A.D.D. pictures tomorrow and this helps so much :)
what happens to the bottom of the shirt??
I did this on one of my fave shirts today, and it looks great! My only difference was that I didn't fold them straight down the middle; I just layed them flat and pinned the fitted shirt to the baggy shirt before cutting. Thanks!
Ha! Like a shirt can possibly be too big.. They are always too small for us americans.
ha ha, I just lost a bunch of weight, so I'm trying to save myself the trouble of buying a new warddrobe. Now if only I could do this to some of my pants too!
I am simply stating my opinion so please do not jump all over it... I don't think pants with these knots look decent in any way. They look ghetto. I've seen it and I've turned away. On a funnier note, some lady wearing them came out on What Not to Wear. On an even funnier note, I watched the show.
I lost five inches from my waist in months on the GI diet and you can still eat most of the stuff you like. I recommend it.
the "going insane" diet
ahahah!! that's clever XD diets are insane! i dont ever stay on diets...im really bad at it....fortunatly for me...i dont really need one either.
No really, Glycemic Index Diet.... Google it...
this is excellent....thanks!
You have no idea how much this helped me!! I have to wear this ridiculous t-shirt to work tomorrow and I so happy my xl shirt will look cute and be different then everyone else!!
Thanks! I just pimped out my very lame sorority t-shirt for my trip to convention. I'm sick of looking boyish in tees when I have a waistline...rare at my age. Why not show it off without the price tag.
I tried this yesterday and it came out great! One change I made was to put the knots on the inside of the shirt to make it look smoother on the outside. It ended up with a cinched kind of look. I was able to wear some old shirts that didn't fit me anymore! Thanks!
I'm a large around the...ahem...bust...but a small around my waist so this is perfect. Just have to watch how far up I cut. _
