Intro: Notebook Paper Airplane

This instructable will enable the user to create a fairly simply, but very efficient paper airplane with even a simple piece of notebook paper.

STEP 1: Step 1: Gather Matierials

All that is needed for this instructable is a rectangular piece of paper, preferably sized at 8.5 inches by 11 inches.

STEP 2: Step 2: Fold the Paper in Half.

First, fold the paper in half along one of the shorter ends of the paper (hotdog style), making sure to make a visible crease. This is important because this fold is going to be used as a guide line for the majority of your remaining folds.

STEP 3: Step 3: Fold in Top Corners.

Next, fold two top corners of the paper inwards so that the two opposing edges are flush along the crease in the middle.

STEP 4: Step 4: Fold Down the Folded Corners.

For this step, fold down the top portion of the paper downwards along the bottom edges of the corners that were folded down in the previous step, almost making a square. The folded corners should be unseen and covered within the fold.

STEP 5: Step 5: Fold Top Corners Together.

Similarly to step two, fold the top corners inwards towards the center. However, unlike in step two when the edges of the folds were touching, the corners of these folds will be touching and the edges will not. This should leave a small portion of the corner from the fold in step three exposed below the new folds.

STEP 6: Step 6: Fold Up Secure Corner.

Now, the corner that was left exposed in the previous step is going to be folded up and over the two corners that were just folded together in the previous step as well. Although this step may seem insignificant, it will essentially keep the plane held together.

STEP 7: Step 7: Fold in Half

Once the exposed corner has been successfully folded and secured the next step is to fold the paper in half along the previously folded crease. Make sure that the previously folded corners are exposed on the outer side of the fold.

STEP 8: Step 8: Fold Down the Wings.

Now that the paper is folded in half, fold the ends of the paper opposite the fold downwards. Make sure that these folds are as close as possible to the edges of the secure corner mentioned in step six and that the folds are creased well.

STEP 9: Step 9: Level the Wings

Finally, after the wings have been folded and creased, fold the wings back up so that they create a flat surface and the plane should be ready to test. fly

STEP 10: Step 10: Adjust and Customize Your Plane.

Now that the standard version of the plane has been finished, feel free to add any drawings or designs to add a personal touch. Also, try folding the tips of the wings or adding paperclips as weights. This could result in anything from a plane that does continuous barrel rolls to one that somersaults and continues flying back upside-down (both of which I have personally accomplished), be creative.
