Introduction: Nutella S'mores Hand Pie
A delicious hand pie with the filling of Nutella and marshmallow fluff that tastes like a s'more.
Step 1: Creating the Crust
For this pie crust, you will need:
·12 Tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) of very cold, unsalted butter
·3 Cups of all purpose flour
·1 Teaspoon of kosher salt
·1 Tablespoon of sugar
·1/3 Cup of very cold vegetable shortening
·6-8 Tablespoons of ice water
Step 2: Pie Crust: Step 1
First, dice the butter then return it to the fridge. Then place the flour, salt, and sugar in a food processor. Pulse a few times to mix. Add the butter and shortening.
Step 3: Pie Crust: Step 2
Next, pour the ice water in mixture and pulse until the dough forms into a ball. Then dump out the dough onto a floured board and roll it into a ball.
Step 4: Pie Crust: Final Step
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Creating the Nutella S'mores Filling
For this filling, you will need:
· 1 Cup of Nutella
· 1 Cup of marshmallow fluff
· 1 Egg
· Some sugar for sprinkling
Step 6: Nutella S'mores Filling: Step 1
First, preheat the oven to 450° and then in a small bowl, crack the egg and whisk.
Step 7: Nutella S'mores Filling: Step 2
Roll out the pie crust and use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut circles out of the dough (14-15 circles using 2 sheets). Then place 7 of the circles on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 8: Nutella S'mores Filling: Step 3
Using a pastry brush, brush the edges with the egg wash.
Step 9: Nutella S'mores Filling: Step 4
Spoon one tablespoon of the marshmallow fluff and one tablespoon of Nutella into the center of each circle (use an off set spatula or butter knife to spread the filling)
Step 10: Nutella S'mores Filling: Step 5
Use small cookie cutters to cut a shape out of each remaining circle and then top each filled circle with the circle with the cut out. Then crease the edges with a fork. Brush the top with the egg wash and top it with the leftover dough shape.
Step 11: Nutella S'mores Filling: Final Step
Sprinkle sugar on top and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
