Intro: Odor-B-Gone!

If your shoes smell awful once you take them off, for example, gym shoes, this Instructable is for you! How is this possible, you say? Please, read on...

STEP 1: Supplies

1. Pair of smelly shoes
2. 12v DC adapter (or 2 9v batteries, with connectors)
3. 1ft (30cm) of 2.75in (5cm) cardboard tubing*
4. 2 large (or small) CPU cooling fans**
5. Dryer sheets
6. 2 rubber bands

Tools:
1. Pair of scissors
2. Duct tape

*You can also use a paper towel roll
**The large CPU fan can be supplemented with the smaller type

STEP 2: Cut the Tube

First, cut your tube in half. This was already done for me, so i didn't take any pictures... But this should be fairly easy, i hope.

STEP 3: Attach the Fan

Get the CPU fan and place it on top of the tube, where the airflow goes in the tube, and attach it via duct tape. Pretty, isn't it? lol

STEP 4: Poke Holes

On the bottom quarter of the tube, poke holes about 1in. apart, to spread the air easier. I cut out two triangle shapes. (pictured below)

STEP 5: Place the Dryer Sheets

Fold the dryer sheet in half, and place it on top of the fan. For worse odor, put more sheets. Make sure the sheet is tight, and hold it in place with the rubber band. This eliminates the smell and acts as a filter!

STEP 6: Now Plug It In!

Place the red wire (+) inside the plug, and the black wire (-) on the outside. You can do this with both fans on the same adapter, but the fan is reduced to half power. If you are using a 9v battery, just remember: red is positive and black is negative

STEP 7: Put It to Use

Now repeat steps 2 through 6, and place these in your shoes, and there it is! They look ridiculous, but your shoes won't smell while these are in them...

Great idea! i've been looking for something like this... Does it work with waterproof shoes, cos thats all i wear...
it should, thats what the holes are for in the cardboard... now that i think about it, this is ideal for waterproof shoes, because they cant breathe, so this should help with the odor
I would purchase the female power connector so you don't have to wrap the wires around the ac plug. They are easily found at radioshack and only require a small amount of soldering.
that is not a bad idea...
Febreez. xD
febreeze irritates my feets, and the smell doesn't last that long
please, don't forget to comment!!!
