Introduction: "Oink Oink" Bacon, Ham and Cheddar Quiche

About: I do lots of things, but my passion is beading!

I serve this easy quiche most often with fresh fruit. I have made this for feeding company, brunch, dinner, and as a welcome to the neighborhood dish!  I almost always use leftover bacon, but sometimes add a little ham if I have some on hand, since I have a family of voracious eaters! My favorite part is that you use whatever leftover meat and veg that you have in the fridge. You can substitute sausage,zucchini, tomatoes...get creative! I used a prepared frozen thawed pie shell to cut time and costs, but you can substitute your own  homemade pie shell. This freezes well once baked, great for busy cooks!


1 frozen pie crust shell

3 strips leftover bacon, cooked and diced
1/2 cup leftover broccoli, diced (optional)
1/2 cup ham, cooked and diced (optional)
5 large eggs
1/4 cup milk (I used 1%)
1/4 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon McCormick Garlic & Red Pepper blend
1/2 teaspoon dried chopped onion flakes
a pinch of dried dill (see picture in step 3)
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients and Oven

Pre-heat oven to 375°.

Prick the bottom of the thawed crust with a fork. Bake crust for 10 minutes.

Dice your bacon, ham and broccoli.

Brown the ham in a small  pan. This removes the excess moisture, and will keep your quiche from becoming soggy.

Sprinkle bacon onto bottom of pie crust.

Step 2: Mix Your Eggs and Herbs

In a small bowl, whisk together the 5 eggs,
1/4 cup milk,
1/4 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon Mc Cormick Garlic & Red Pepper blend,
1/2 teaspoon dried chopped onion flakes
a pinch of dried dill (see picture).

Pour into the baked crust.

Step 3: Sprinkle N' Bake

Sprinkle ham(optional), broccoli (optional) and cheddar cheese over the top.

Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes, or until quiche filling is set and top is ever so slightly browned.

Step 4: Cool and Eat

Remove the quiche carefully from the oven when the top is slightly brown, and the filling is firm to the touch. If your eggs are nice and light, it will be  a little springy feeling.

Allow to cool for 8-10 minutes.

Quiche serves 8 modest servings, 4 servings if your family eats like mine does :)

I like to serve it with fruit and a nice strong cup of coffee! A fresh salad is another option.
