Introduction: Oreo Cookies COPYCAT Recipe
In this instructable I will show you how to make Oreo cookies. Because these cookies is my favourite, today i will show for you how to make it. This recipe is not very difficult - I think anyone can make it if he has enough free time.
Step 1: Prepare Components
INGREDIENT LIST:
For dough:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence or 1/2 tsp vanilla sugar
- A few drops of black food coloring(optional)
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup butter
For cream filling:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 6 tbsp powdered sugar
Step 2: Melt Butter
So, at the begining of making Oreo cookies at home we need to melt butter.
Put butter into pot or metal cup, place it on the stove and set minimum heat. Always stir to prevent burn. When all the butter is dissolved, go to the next step.
Step 3: Mix Molten Butter With Powdered Sugar
In this step you have to pour the melted butter together with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract or vanilla sugar into the bowl. Stir until you get a creamy texture.
Step 4: Mix All the Dough Ingredients
Into a bowl with butter and powered sugar mixture put cocoa powder, black food coloring(optional), flour, baking powder and baking soda. Then mix everything well.
Step 5: Add Milk
Gradually add milk to the prepared mixture and mix everything well(I highly recommend to do it with hands).
Step 6: Dough Formation
When the dough is ready - it's time to form it. Then roll the dough with help of baking paper until you get thickness of about 4 millimeters(accuracy is not necessary).
Once the dough is formed, we need to form cookies. To do it you can use cookie cutter or cup.
After forming the cookies, part of the dough remains - with it we repeat the process until we consume everything.
Tip! Before baking these cookies you can place a Oreo cookie into dough and gently press it. A pattern will remain on cookie you made.
Step 7: Baking
Put everything in a baking sheet with baking paper. Preheet oven to 180°C and put in the oven. Bake about 20-25 minutes. When baked remove from the oven to cool.
Step 8: Making Cream Filling
For cream filling you need to mix butter with a mixer for about two minutes. Then add powdered sugar and mix everything with spatula(you can do same with a mixer).
Step 9: Put It All Together
Now you need to put the cream in a pastry bag, apply the cream on the biscuit ,put another on top and gently push. Your homemade Oreos is done!

The spoon in the picture is not a tablespoon. Two tablespoons of milk and the "dough" is probably already too wet to roll.
Update: I added 1 tbsp flour and 1 tbsp powdered sugar and it's still far too wet to roll. I'm going to add 1 tbsp of cocoa and then refrigerate it for a while and see how it goes.

When you make your own you can make double-deckers.

Thanks for this -- Martha Stewart put out a recipe for copycat Oreos decades ago, and I never made them because her filling is made with partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (Crisco) and I haven't had that in my pantry for decades. I think Crisco is probably truer to the real Oreo filling, but this is the recipe for me. I will try this today!
