Intro: Origami Yoda

Origami comes from the Japanese words ori meaning folding and gami meaning paper. The challenge is to transform a flat square piece of paper into a sculpture using folds and creases. Origami has so much to teach us about geometry, fractions, and problem-solving. Creating origami requires patience and focus but seeing your finished product is extremely rewarding.

STEP 1: Landscape

Use an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper. Start with paper in the landscape position.

STEP 2: Right Third

Fold the right side into a third

STEP 3: Left Third

Fold the left side into a third

STEP 4: Left Ear

Fold the left corner outward for the ear

STEP 5: Right Ear

Fold the right corner outward for the ear

STEP 6: Head

Fold the top over up to the tip of the ears

STEP 7: Face

Draw a face!

STEP 8: Color

Add color to make your Origami Yoda complete!
