Introduction: Origami "Takeout" Container
Create an origami container that resembles a takeout container.
Materials needed-I recommend a 6-9 inch square this will work just fine with copy paper. I don't recommend thin wrapping paper.
Step 1: Step One
Take your square and fold in half on the diagonal. Open it up and fold the other diagonal.
Step 2: Step Two
Fold in half lengthwise, but only crease on the outer edges. Open it up rotate the paper 90 degrees and do the same thing.
Step 3: Step Three
Take the bottom edge and fold to the crease mark in the middle. Make a crease mark on the outer edges. Do this for the other three edges.
Step 4:
Fold the bottom edge up to the first crease mark (its a quarter mark) and crease on the outer edges. Do this on all four sides.
Step 5:
What you are creasing now is going the be the bottom of the container. Take the bottom edge and fold it up to the highest crease mark. You are only going to crease between the diagonal crease marks as shown. Do this on all four sides.
Step 6: Step 6
This is what it should look like.
Step 7:
Pinch the diagonal crease to the center square.
Step 8: Step 8
take the diagonal and fold it over to the center crease line and make a new crease in the paper behind. Do the same thing to the other diagonal on this same side.
Step 9: Step 9
This is what step 8 looks like from the inside.
Step 10: Step 10
Fold the flaps over the edge and then undo.
Step 11: Step 11
Fold the little tips over each other and tuck into the pocket.
Step 12: Step 12
Tips tucked in.
Step 13: Step 13
Fold tip down to the center crease line.
Step 14: Step 14
Open pocket and fold in on original creases from step 10
Step 15: Step 15
Step 13 finished. Now complete steps 6-13 on the other side.
Step 16: Step 16
This is what the container currently looks like.
Step 17: Last Step If You Want
You can leave this as is, but if you want Underneath the side lies a fold crease. Gently pinch down the crease. The line goes from the vertex at the top to the related vertex at the base. Refer to the next picture for help if needed.
Step 18: Finished
This is the finished container. The first was done out of a foil square this purple one is out of vellum.

I didn't understand steps 1-5...but I have a box! It just needs tape...and it's super flimsy. :I

Added to the growing collection of origami containers on top of my computer. Now I just need some small items to keep in them- perhaps business cards or post-it notes?

Just yesterday I was wishing I knew a little origami to make a bowl for chips at work since all I had access to were newspapers...

awesome end product. The steps could be a little clearer though, the glare on the paper is sort of confusing. Good work either way.
