Our Name in a Sign

Here at our after-school program we needed a sign. We have built this sign from 100% recycled parts.

The case is a cardboard box that we cut the front off and lined the inside with tin-foil.

We used 50 watt halogen bulbs to light the sign and they get a bit hot so we put fans from old computers on each end of the box and wired them up.

Next we wired the bulbs up and and taped them to the bottom of the box, making sure that the points where they wiring is connected are not touching any area inside the box.

We cut a sheet of Perspex to fit the top and created a paper stencil with our name on it.

The whole sign is powered by a 25 volt battery that we recycled out of an old UPS.
