Intro: Over-The-Rainbow Lighted Diamond Princess Bed

This was a project that started with my wife's idea to create a princess bed with a large glass diamond placed on the top of each bed post. Then, a friend named Tom suggested we could make the diamond light up and then change colors. Together Tom and I learn about microcontrollers and LED. We decided on using an Arduino Mega 2560 and 4 RGB LEDs from RadioShack.

After learning about basic LED circuits, debouncing a switch, and programing in c and the Arduino IDE, the bed was assembled and operational. My first little princess loved the bed.

Many Thanks to my wife and my friend Tom for the idea and the inspiration to complete this project.

How did you go about getting the wired through the post? Or do you have those more detailed instructions?

To get the holes in the post, I used a 24 inch long 3/8 inch drill bit. On the post behind the head and foot board, i used a shorter 3/8 inch drill bit to drill into the side of the post. I feed the wires through the top of the post and used a homemade hooked wire to pull the wire through the hole on the side of the post. to hide the wires on the head a foot broads, i used a grooved 1x3 to cover the wires.

Thanks for the info.

so now you need to show how to make it work
Thanks for the comment. I am planning to do a second more detailed instructable as i complete the upgrades to the controls and new light patterns. I have completed the incorporation of a PIR motion sensor and a light sensor and an additional user button. I am looking forward to sharing.
is there any possible way for you to personaly let me know when that isdone
Awww BEAUTIFUL. Great job
