I made a tool organizer to hang on the back of a closet door, and I couldn't find any over the door hooks thin enough to work with the narrow space between the top of the door and the door frame. My solution? Make some using 5" x 7" aluminum step flashing sheets!

Step 1: Bend Flashing Sheet

Use a straight edge to bend the flashing sheet - the edges can be very sharp, so handle carefully, or better yet, wear gloves to do this.

Step 2: Attach the Hooks to the Organizer

I used multi-material screws from SPAX to attach the hooks to my door organizer. These screws work with metal and wood and don't require any pre-drilling but making a small divot with a nail prior to drilling helps prevent the screw from slipping.

Step 3: Attach Hooks to the Door

I screwed the hooks to the top of the door to make sure they stay in place and the door closes without any problems.

Step 4: Enjoy
