Introduction: PVC Hunting Slingshot

About: I make weapons, and other things...

Today i will be showing you how to make a powerful hunting slingshot out of 3/4 inch UPVC piping.

As i am sure you all know, slingshots are potentially deadly weapons which need to be used with extreme caution.

I hope everyone finds this tutorial instructive :-)

Step 1: Things You Will Need.

To make this you will need:

About 25cm of 3/4 inch UPVC piping.

A leather pouch

About 50cm of slingshot rubber (the length depends on its elasticity).

Some car or bicycle inner tubing.

Electrical tape

A hacksaw

Scissors

A craft knife

A pair of forceps

Step 2: The PVC

Cut a length of PVC of about 25 cm (this will vary depending on the size of your hand).

Make a mark just wider than your hand for the handle. Use a heatgun or stove top to soften the pipe on the other side of the mark, then cut all the way down the middle to the mark.

Step 3: Bending

While it is still flexible, bend both sides down then bend nearly half on each side up to make the frame.

Use the craft knife to cut off any rough edges.

Now wrap insulating tape around the whole slingshot as shown.

Step 4: Bands

Cut your rubber into 2 pieces, bring one of the pieces through the pouch. Cut a thin strip of inner-tubing and, leaving some excess, wrap it tightly round at least 3 times.

Step 5: Tying

Placing the forceps as shown, wrap the rubber twice round the forceps and on the third, use the forceps to pull the rubber through. Now cut off the loose ends and repeat for the other band.

Step 6: Step 6

Cut a thicker length of inner-tubing and, using the same technique as when attaching the pouch, attach the bands to each side of the frame as shown.

Step 7: Step 7

If you have done everything correctly you should have something that looks at least a bit like this.

I have found that having a low frame when using heavy bands, greatly reduces the strain on the wrist.

Please feel free to leave comments with suggestions and ideas of what you would like me to make next.
