Introduction: PVC Slingshot

I decided to make a slingshot that can be made cheaply and easily yet still shoots very hard. I also decided to use PVC because it's something I haven't seen before. PVC is a strong pipe that is readily available. It is also cheap. I am very satisfied with the slingshot that I made. I think that this is the best possible slingshot that can be made for its price (under $10!). Well, here it is, my first instructable and hopefully one that you will like.

DISCLAIMER: THE SLINGSHOT MADE IN THIS WEAPON  IS A WEAPON. IT CAN BE VERY POWERFUL  AND CAN SERIOUSLY INJURE SOMEONE. NEVER AIM IN THE DIRECT OF ANY LIVING THING OR ANYTHING THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO BE DESTROYED. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR  ANY DAMAGE YOU MAY DO WITH THIS.

Sorry for the bad picture quality, my camera isn't very nice...

Step 1: Materials

You don't need very many materials for this project. With the materials listed below you can make several slingshots.

10' 1/2'' PVC pipe-$1.50
1/2" PVC end cap-$0.25
1/2" PVC T connector-$0.25
2 1/2" 90 degree connector-$0.25 each
Pack of large rubber bands-$1.00
Roll of duct tape-$5.00

I had all of these materials lying around my house. You might, but they're very cheap if you don't. Now, on to the fun part.

Step 2: Making the Body

Cut a piece of PVC around 5 inches long, or whatever length for a handle is comfortable to you. Put the end cape on one end (picture one). Then attach the T connector to the other end (picture two). Put two 0.66-1.25 inch PVC pieces into the two other holes in the T connector (picture three).  Then attach the two 90 degree connectors to the small pieces of PVC (picture four). After that attach two 2.5 inch connectors to the 90 degree connectors (picture five). Then take the duct tape and tape over all the joints to secure them.

Step 3: Attaching the Band

Take one to five rubber band (I used three and mine shoots a marble at least 200 feet) and cut them so that instead of looping around into a circle, it makes a plain band. Then put it sticking off of one of the the two pieces. Do the same on the other side using different rubber bands. Then take a s0trip of duct tape and tape it over itself several times. Cut the strip down to a size of 3/4 inch by 2 1/4 inch. Cut small holes in the tape on both sides (longways). Then tie the rubber band onto paper clips. After that attach the paper clips into the holes in the duct tape. After that take small strips of tape and tape over the paper clips. This will stop the metal from bending open when the slingshot is pulled back.

Step 4: Finished!

You're finished! Fire marbles, pebbles, or other small ammunition. Have fun and be safe!
