Introduction: Pallet Arrows

About: I am a novice woodworker and have a YouTube channel in which I upload the videos that I record and edit.

First, I would like to say that this is my first Instructable that I have ever wrote and submitted.

Now about the project. This is a very simple pallet project that I did. I was asked to make some Arrows for someone and these is what they wanted. Lets get started.

Here is a short, detailed video on my YouTube channel that will show each step of how to do this project.

Step 1: Step 1: Get Your Pallets

These are some pics of the pallets I had and some pics as I took them apart. Taking pallets apart is usually not easy, but sometimes you can get some beautiful wood from pallets.

Step 2: Step 2: Cut Your Boards

Here I have cut my boards and laid them out to have a good idea of what they will look like. I cut these boards at 45 degree angle on each end. The final length is around 9 3/4". I used my miter saw to cut these angles.

Step 3: Step 3: Sanding

Here is some shots of the sanding process. I started with 80 grit sand paper and worked my way up to 220 grit. You can see in these pics how different the pallet boards look after a little bit of sanding.

Step 4: Step 4: Assemble

Here I assembled the boards with glue and pocket screws. You can see the back of these baords where I have attached the pocket hole screws.

Step 5: Step 5: More Sanding & the Polyurethane

Here you can see the boards have dried and they have some glue showing on the surface. I sanded the boards some more and finally got them to the state in which I was happy.

I then added a coat of Polyurethane to each of the Arrows. After that dried for over 24 hours, I sanded the rough spots and added a second coat.

Step 6: Step 6: Finished

After I let the second coat of Poly dry. I was happy with how they looked. I let them sit over 48 hours and then they were ready to leave the shop. They turned out very nice. The wood is very smooth and has a very nice finish to it. I can honestly say that these turned out about as good as I could have hoped.
