A fun and interesting design that doesn't take long to build.

Step 1: Cut Your Boards

You will need 6 boards.

1) 12" X 5 1/2" (The base)

1) 2 1/2' X 5 1/2" (The stand)

2) 11" X 5 1/2" (The upper shelves)

2) 16" X 5 1/2" (The lower shelves)

Step 2: Cut the Base Slot

Cut a 15 degree angle no deeper than 3/4 of the thickness of the board starting 4" from one end (I used a radial saw). Continue cutting until you have made a slot just wide enough for the stand to fit into. Cut a 15 degree angle on the bottom of the stand so it will fit snugly into the base slot.

Step 3: Cutting the Shelf Slots

After cutting the angle at the bottom of the stand, turn the board over and then end for end. Starting at 2" from the top of the stand, cut a 15 degree angle no deeper than 3/4 of the depth of the stand. Continue cutting until you have made a slot just wide enough for one of the shelves to fit snugly. From the bottom of the slot, measure 6" and begin your cut for the second shelf. Repeat the process for the third and fourth shelves.

Step 4: Fitting the Shelves

Cut a 15 degree angle on the edge of the shelves so they will match with the angle on the stand and create a tighter fit. Offset the shelves on alternating sides of the stand, aligning the edges of the shelves with the edges of the stand. Put the smaller shelves in the top two slots and the longer ones in the bottom two.

Step 5: Fasten the Stand and Shelves

Drill two holes from the bottom of the base into the stand and then, using #10 1" screws, secure the stand to the base. Drill two holes from the back of the stand into the shelves and secure each of them with two #10 1" screws. It is recommended to put a polyurethane seal on the plant stand if you intend to use it outside. Also, place flower pots on the lower shelves at the same time so that the plant stand doesn't tip over.
