Introduction: Paper Birdhouses

About: Hi, I'm Sarah! I love to create things - paper crafts, hand lettering, holiday crafts, fabric dyeing, polymer clay and more.

Hi! Here I will show you how I made these paper birdhouses. I created these to fill with candy and give as a gift for Mother's Day, but they could be used for other occasions as well.

You will need to go to this link to get the patterns

If you'd like to see this in video version, please click the video above.

You will need:

- Paper (scrapbook paper, card stock or construction paper will all work)

- Scissors

- Glue

-Toothpick

- Pencil

- Ribbon

Optional:

- Candy, if you want to fill the birdhouse

Please note, there are many other versions of paper birdhouses out there. I'm not the original creator, this is just my version :)

Step 1: Cut Out & Fold the Patterns

Cut out each pattern and fold on the dotted lines.

Step 2: Trace the Patterns

Trace each pattern onto paper - make sure to trace all solid and dotted lines. Then, cut them out.

If you want to, trace an additional copy of the front and back (like I did, shown above) so you have an accent color.

Step 3: Assemble the House

Start by glueing the accent pieces (if you have any) and then the center piece.

Next, use a pencil to mark where the toothpick will go, centered below the circular opening on the front. Next, carefully make a hole with the toothpick.

Put glue on each of the tabs and assemble the house.

Step 4: Assemble the Roof

Fold each roof trim piece in half, and glue them to the roof.

Next, carefully use scissors or an xacto knife to cut a slit in each side of the roof. This is where the ribbon will go through.

Step 5: Add the Finishing Touches

Cut the toothpick in half, and press it into the hole in the front.

Fill the birdhouse with candy.

Center a long piece of ribbon under the house, thread the ends through the slits in the roof, then tie a bow on top of the birdhouse.

Step 6: You're Done!

Once the bow is tied, that's it, you've just made a paper birdhouse!
