Introduction: Paper Clay Mask
First make a rough sketch of your idea.
Supplies
Paper clay
Newspapers
Paper tape.
gauze
Primer
Water colors
A set of brushes
Step 1: Making the Mould
To start off, first take a set of newspapers and try to shape them like the face of your mask roughly by rolling them.
Once you get the satisfied shape, make the upper surface flat ,without any folds
Step 2: Making the Mask
Now take the paper clay, and flatten it . Mount the newspaper mould on the table using paper tape, so that it doesn't move during the course of mask making. Then place the paper clay on the mould and try to get it to the shape of the mask.
Step 3: Adding Extra Features
Add extra features like nose, lips and eyebrows using the remaining paper clay and merge it using water and clay tools. Let the mould dry for atleast a week.
Step 4: Applying Primer
After the mask dries, apply a layer of primer on it, before actually painting it and let it dry for about 10 minutes.
Step 5: Start Painting
Now start painting your mask according to your plan, using water colors. First apply the base coat of paint and then paint the other details.
Step 6: The Mask Is Done
Once the mask is painted, allow it to dry and mount it on an appropriate stand and you are ready to roll !!!
