Introduction: Paper Pencil Bin

About: Break It and Fix It!

A fun project to make with the kids or to add a fun paper pencil bin to your desk!

Step 1: Collect Materials

For this project you are going to need:

- 3 Sheets of 8.5x11 Printer Paper

-1 Glue Stick

-Some Crayons

-Scissors

-Pencil

Step 2: Create the Inner Cylinder

At this step you are going to make the inner wall of the pencil bin. To do this you are going to follow these steps:

-Cut a piece of paper in half length wise.

-Make it into a cylinder as shown in the picture.

-Glue it together using a glue stick.

Step 3: Create the Base

To Create the base you are going to trace out the inner wall you made in the last step and then draw on four rectangular tabs. Reference the pictures in this step for guidance.

Step 4: Combine the Base and the Inner Wall

First you are going to cut out the base you drew in the last step. Then you are going to fold up the little tabs and put glue on the outer part of the tabs. Now you are going to put the base into the bottom of the cylinder.

Step 5: Create the Decorative Part

To create the rainbow decorative paper straws we are first going to colour two sheets of paper any way you want using the crayons or any other colouring utensils. You could even use news print or magazine pages to make the paper straws.

Then you are going to cut the paper into strips as shown in the picture. After you do that you are going to put some glue on the inner part of the paper strip and roll it into a straw.

After you create the straws you can cut them to the proper height.

Step 6: Finish

To complete the paper pencil bin you are just going to glue the paper straws created in the last step to the paper cylinder made in earlier steps. The finished product should like like the picture, or even better!
